With a career in the industry spanning over 30 years, Grahame started out working as a production manager for a Heinz subsidiary, then switched to pest insect breeding research for Wellcome Environmental Health, before a spell as a pest control technician with National Pest Control. He then worked as a pest consultant for ADAS training pest control technicians, undertaking field biologist audits for a diverse range of food businesses, investigating problem infestations for multinational food companies, both in the UK and overseas, and carrying out phytosanitary inspections of export grain for MAFF.

Grahame spent several years inventing and developing innovative pest control products with
Network Pest Control and then Pelsis following their acquisition of the Network brand from
BASF. Most recently he was Technical & Training Manager for Mitie Pest Control which became Terminix UK following the acquisition by ServiceMaster.

  • BPCA Registered Master Technician
  • Food Industry Training – Developed original Pest Control Contract Management course for the food industry back in the early 1990’s (course later sold to Acheta Pest Management Consulting when they started working with the food industry and still running now via the Society of Food Hygiene & Technology)
  • Presentations – Presented globally on a variety of pest control topics for the likes of Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, Federation of Asian and Oceania Pest Managers Associations, Highfield Qualifications, PestEx, Pest Tech…
  • Technical Writing – Wrote Network’s Technical Manual; re-wrote the bird section of BPCA Technical Manual; updated pest control section of Richard Sprenger’s ‘Hygiene for Management’, written articles for Pest magazine…
  • Pest Control Industry Training – Wrote comprehensive technical pest control eLearning programme for Terminix. Established RSPH training centre and helped hundreds of technicians to achieve the RSPH L2 Award in Pest Management; numerous technicians achieve the BPCA Advanced Technician qualification; and several technicians achieve Certificated Field Biologist
  • Product Development – Invention and development of a very wide range of bird proofing products including the complete Avishock electric bird deterrent system; and instrumental in the development of Roguard rodent control devices
  • Research – Developed artificial diet for laboratory breeding of mosquitoes that maintained fertility and fecundity over multiple generations
